Pre-K handwriting lines worksheet generator

Your words, on ruled lines, as many times as it takes. Type what the class is practising — a letter, a word, a sentence — and print it to trace, to copy, or to write from memory on empty lines.

This page is set for Pre-K, so it opens on trace, then write — change the range beside the sheet if your class is ahead of that or still catching up. For worksheets somebody has already put together for the same year, the Pre-K library is free to download as well.

  • Free, and no sign-up
  • A different paper for every child
  • Your school and badge across the top

Build your sheet

Everything you set here lands on the page beside you. Nothing needs an account.

The questions

One on each line. A letter, a word or a short sentence — whatever the class is working on. Up to 20 of them.

Set for Pre-K. Move it either way if your class is somewhere else.

How much of the page they fill. The largest size on offer fills a sheet of paper.

Each version asks different questions, so the child in the next seat has a different paper. They print one after another from this page.

Drops the fills and lightens the lines, so a class set costs grey outlines rather than blocks of colour.

Put your school on it Optional

These print across the top of the sheet and stay in the link, so the same address prints the same heading next term. Leave one blank to leave it off.

Make it a test paper Optional

Fill either of these in and the sheet prints a line above the questions saying how long the class has and what the paper is out of.

How the handwriting lines generator works

  1. 1. Choose

Pick what the questions cover and how many of them you want, then update the sheet.

  2. 2. Print

The sheet is already on the page. Print it, or save it as a PDF from the same dialog.

  3. 3. Come back

Hit New questions for a sheet nobody has done yet. They never run out.

Every sheet is free, needs no account, and comes out of the printer ready to use. If you would rather take a worksheet somebody has already put together, the worksheet library is free to download too.

Questions teachers ask

Are these handwriting lines worksheets free?
Yes, completely. Every sheet built on this page is free to print or to save as a PDF. There is nothing to pay for, nothing to subscribe to, and no limit on how many you make.
Do I need an account to use it?
No. Nothing here asks you to sign in or to hand over an email address. Choose what you want on the sheet, press print, and that is the whole of it.
How many different handwriting lines worksheets can I make?
As many as you need. The questions are built fresh each time rather than picked from a fixed stack, so every child in a class can have a different paper, and next term's practice is never the one they did this term.
What level are these for?
Whichever you pick. This generator offers trace, then write, copy onto the line and two lines to fill, so the same page suits a child who is just starting and one who needs stretching.
Can I use these with my class?
Yes. They are made to be printed and handed out, so use them in a lesson, set them as homework, or send one home with a child who wants the extra practice. Printing for a whole class is fine.
Are these right for Pre-K?
Yes. This page opens on trace, then write, which is where Pre-K works. If your class is ahead of that, or still catching up, change the number range beside the sheet and the questions change with it.
Can I put my school's name on it?
Yes. Type your school and your class into the boxes beside the sheet and they print across the top of every page, so what you hand out reads as your classroom's work rather than as a page off the internet. Your school badge can go above them, and it stays in your browser for the next sheet you build.
